Vivos Voco, I Summon the Living
"Vivos voco — I summon the living" belongs to a cycle of exhibitions I conceived, guided by the idea of the garden. For this third iteration, I invited the artists Emilia Labbé, Ulysse Feuvrier and Minh Boutin, whose practices move through poetic, living, biological imaginaries.
After chaos, life is born in an anarchy of forms and origins. Skin, bark or rocky surfaces, ambivalent figures populate this mutant garden. Monks at prayer or joyful infants, transfigured, becoming cocoon or coming out of one, carved stones with angelic protrusions, or outright giant larvae set up as gargoyles — the ruins of a clerical building are visibly trying to come to life.
