Born in 1998 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Margot Anquez Bariseau studied at ESAA Duperré (BTS in Spatial Design, 2019; Higher Diploma in Applied Arts, Fashion and Environment, 2021), then completed a Master 2 in Design and Creation at CNAM, in residence at the Mobilier National (2022). She is currently preparing her DNA for September 2026, at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, in Tatiana Trouvé's studio.
Her practice comes from the monasteries of her childhood. She watched the bodies of monks at prayer melt into the architecture. That immersion in sacred space still shapes how she sees architecture, as a living body. Her sculptures keep its trace, becoming in turn membranes, cavities, frameworks.
Baubô the laugher, who exposed her sex to make grieving Demeter laugh. Saint Julia of Corsica with mutilated breasts, from whose body a fertile spring still flows. The Virgin Mary before her reduction to purity. Magdalena beneath her own hair. These are the feminine figures her sculptures gather, those that iconography has erased or mutilated. She brings them back to their own anarchy, reclaiming their bodies from the male gaze that emptied them. Each piece is where the memory of erasure meets the body coming back.
Ornament becomes the language of a continuity between kingdoms. Petals, bones, bark, breasts and bellies surface together in her pieces, each reopening a dialogue with the forces that bring us to life and transform us. Her work joins the emerging current of mothering, reimagining the female body as a site of power, memory, and transformation.
